School History

Castle Hill Infant School is situated a little to the north of Basingstoke town centre.  It shares a campus with Castle Hill Junior School and serves part of an area known as Winklebury, which consists mainly of public housing which has been developed over the last forty years as a result of the planned expansion of Basingstoke as an overspill town for London during the 1970's.  Recently new houses have been built at the hospital site at Rooksdown and are either in our catchment or part of a shared catchment between the Winklebury Schools and Castle Hill Schools.

The school is a single story SCOLA 3 designed building which was built in 1972. The building accommodates six classrooms, an assembly hall, servery, group room, library and resources area, PSA's office and the administrative offices and staffroom.  The school is set in beautiful grounds, which have been improved through the Hampshire Landscape Project. A new extension to the school was completed in 2012, providing much needed extra space to develop the exciting new curriculum.
